Since my previous piece had such little to give in the background, I decided to create a darker background this time. I did not completely go into black tones, instead just create more a grey coloured tones. I do not know why I did this. It was a bad decision. Again, I feel the wax works really well this piece, I decided to melt within the centre of the page and this is because I feel the wax in the centre of the piece creates a powerful statement in my opinion. You go through my sketchbook and this is definitely  the piece which stands out the most. I feel this comes down to two factors, the first being the colour, I feel red is such a powerful colour and it always makes it's way into my work. The second being the texture and form, because it literally melted onto the page, it's dried and stuck in that position which I feel creates a flow through the piece. To conclude, I am happy with how this piece has turned out, however I would like to start making a stronger impact on the background of the page, which will either support or draw attention away from the wax, but I'm excited to find out.
